October 17 is Nano National Hearing Day to Celebrate Executive Order Giving Americans Access to Over-the-Counter Hearing Aids
Finally, millions of Americans with mild to moderate hearing loss will now have an easier time hearing: as of Monday, October 17, hearing aids are available over-the-counter at major retailers, including Walmart, CVS, and Best Buy — without the need for a doctor’s prescription.
For over five years, leading US-based hearing aid company Nano Hearing Aids has been saving customers thousands of dollars on hearing aids — and Americans as a whole over $660 million dollars — by providing affordable, effective, and easy-to-use hearing aids at a fraction of the cost of traditional prescription hearing aids.
And now, thanks to an executive order issued by President Joe Biden in August 2021 directing the Health and Human Services Department and the FDA to create a rule allowing over-the-counter sales of hearing aids, The White House was able to announce the availability of hearing aids as of Monday, October 17.
This means that those with mild to moderate hearing loss will no longer have to visit their doctor for assessment and prescription, which, according to an analysis conducted by the FDA, may save consumers approximately $1400 as the need for professional services is eliminated. The White House expects that consumers could save up to $3000, as over-the-counter hearing aids come at a reduced cost compared to the more expensive prescription devices.
Children and those with serious hearing loss will still require prescriptions for hearing devices.
In celebration of this major shift in how Americans can access better hearing, Nano Hearing Aids has named October 17 as Nano National Hearing Day, and is offering all hearing aid models at a massive discount of up to 85%.
“At Nano Hearing Aids, we’ve always believed that all Americans should have easy, affordable access to hearing aids, without a doctor’s prescription. We know that healthcare isn’t always accessible, so it’s been our mission to create the best hearing technology that will help people hear sounds they haven’t heard in years, without spending an arm and a leg. And now with the news that people will be able to purchase hearing aids at major retailers without a prescription, we feel that even more people will be able to have better hearing, which is a major step in the right direction,” says Nano CEO, Dave Burke.
Nano Hearing Aids is one of the fastest-growing hearing aid companies based in the US. All of Nano’s devices are FDA registered, and are designed and engineered by experienced hearing specialists. By producing its own devices independently, Nano doesn’t rely on other manufacturers, enabling sufferers of hearing loss all over America to have access to medical-grade hearing aids at a fraction of the price.
